Last Night She Cried

LAST NIGHT SHE CRIED – Written by Carroll Bryant

Last night, she cried
And I didn’t even ask her why
When she needed me the most
I left just like a ghost
Fading into the night

Yesterday she said
Her heart was all and everything but dead
When she reached out for my hand
My mind didn’t understand
Lingering there instead

There was a moment to the scene
It was all just standing there for me to believe
I froze like a stone of ice
Looking deep into her eyes
Looking deep into a dream

Tomorrow is the time
When I think I know what she will find
Nothing is all you gain
When you throw it all away
A picture so sublime

There was a reason to discard
The feelings of the girl who made me hard
I wilted like a weed
In search of what I need
Like Napoleon Bonaparte

There was the hope of season two
Before the curtain fell right down on you
It’s a road to lay the blame
Like on a runaway train
And you don’t know what to do

Last night, she cried
And I didn’t even ask her why
When she needed me the most
I left just like a ghost
Fading into the night

If I was what she needed least
I could have been a better beast
I would have gave it another try

And last night, she cried

Strangers In The Midst

STRABGERS IN THE MIDST – Written by Carroll Bryant

I have had these dreams
Sometimes I don’t know what they’re about
I want to scream
Sometimes I just can’t get it out

I stand alone, my heart is my home
I need to be with you
I shed a tear, my soul is my fear
I need a love that’s true
I need to be with you

Shadows in the midst … touch, touch … comes the kiss
Stranger’s so bold with desire to hold each other
Shadows in the midst … touch, touch … comes the kiss
Stranger’s … with desire … become lovers

An innocent girl who has kept the score
With many unfamiliar names
A suspicious look that inspires a book
With a hunger that extinguishes the flames

A make believe child, so tame and so wild
A flower unwilling to grow
In a garden of secrets she somehow delivers
The seeds of love that sow
The flower just won’t grow

Shadows in the midst … touch, touch … comes the kiss
Stranger’s so bold with desire to hold each other
Shadows in the midst … touch, touch … comes the kiss
Stranger’s … with desire … become lovers

The razor sharp dagger cascades through her laughter
Her voice echo’s in the breeze
Like a museum of fear and a portrait of pain
She scours atop of the trees
Her voice echo’s

Touch once, touch twice … comes the kiss
Touch once, touch twice … two shadows in the midst
Stranger’s so bold with desire to hold each other
Become lovers

Shadows in the midst … touch, touch … comes the kiss
Stranger’s so bold with desire to hold each other
Shadows in the midst … touch, touch … comes the kiss
Stranger’s … with desires … become lovers

Half The Sky

HALF THE SKY – Written by Carroll Bryant

There is no such thing as love

Only touch

Only frill and fluff

I heard your words

And you speak like an unwritten book

And you take what has already been took

Until you make your way into my broken heart

Into my broken world

Underneath half the sky

I live like I just want to die with you

Underneath half the moon

Half the stars

Half of everything that can be torn apart

And nobody even knows why

There’s only half the sky

You can’t live into forever

I’m the breath that you can’t digest

Slip and slide

Too smart to be clever

And you drip like the water in the wind

And you run completely out of oxygen

Until you make your way into my broken dreams

Into my dingy screams

Underneath half the sky

I live like I want to un-cry with you

Underneath half the moon

Half the stars

Half of everything that was torn apart

And no, I just can’t tell you why

There’s only half the sky

Could there be a snake in the garden of Eden?

The apple falls from the lifeless tree

I take the tempting bite of frustration

And I’m free

Free to leave

Free to believe

You are Lilith

There is no such thing as love

Only enough

Only jilt and junk

I hate your words

Because you speak like a meaningless muse

Too tattered after being overused

Until you make your way into my arms

Into my empty charms

Underneath half the sky

I live like I need to fly with you

Underneath half the moon

Half the stars

Half of everything that’s not torn apart

And nobody even knows why

There’s only half the sky
